The first Business Meeting was held in Muscat, Oman on November 2013. Meeting was hosted by POEM Group Member, Dr. Yasser Wali from Sultan Qaboos University. The Board of Directors included 36 members with Dr. Amani Al Kofide as Chair, Dr. Hassan El Solh as Vice Chair and Dr. Husain Al Mukharraq as Treasurer. Attendees were from 16 different countries: Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, KSA, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, UAE and Yemen.
During the meeting, it is was agreed on the below:
- Finalize the By-Laws
- Choose the Group’s Logo
- Purchase and launch the website www.poemgroup.org
- Nominate Dr. Raya Saab for the position of Scientific Director
- Working Groups should include around 4-10 members
